Background
Cline is an open source coding agent. Cline started as a hackathon project in 2024 and has raked up over 8 million installs across platforms. Since then, Cline’s surface areas have grown into dedicated desktop apps and cloud agents.
I joined Cline as a Design Engineer to work on all things design.
(Re)defining Cline's visual identity
I first started working on the new desktop app. But as I worked on the desktop app, the need for a better brand direction became clear: to give a clear direction towards what the desktop app should feel like. So I started with redefining Cline's brand.
The symbol
Since Cline's beginning, the bot symbol has received a lot of recognition and love from the community. I decided to keep it, but with refinement.
New website
I redesigned and updated the website with the new brand as well.
